OUR BUSINESS FAMILY TREE
Post WWII-- Dan's dad, Steve and a partner started a business in Philadelphia PA (Girard Electric) specializing in electric motors. Steve was one of nine siblings, six of which were brothers and every brother got involved in electricity of some sort. Whether it was electric motors, radios, refrigeration, house wiring, major appliances or small appliances. The best we can figure is maybe Grandpa Gershey received an electric jolt or a lightning strike as a young man and it carried on to the genes of his kids? Anyway, that appears to be where our aptitude came from.
DAN-OWNER 1978
Dan Gershey started working apprentice for a local appliance service company. In 1980 Dan started his own appliance repair company, Gershey Electric Appliance. We became factory authorized for some major brands of appliances and eventually changed our name to Gershey Appliance Service Inc.
In 1995 Justin began working with the company as an apprentice. When his apprenticeship was completed, we added another van. The company then took on more factory authorized work. Justin and his lovely wife and growing family are always looking to all the possibilities the future holds, especially excellent service and continued growth.
1995 - COMPANY GROWTH
Peter-Dan joined the team in 2002. At that time we became incorporated. The company then took on more factory authorized brands and added another service van. We also expanded our service coverage area, and added emergency service. He and his beautiful wife and four children are always working diligently to help the business function smoothly, whether it be homemaking, homeschooling, frugally living and productively managing their home.
2002 "WE EXPAND OR WE DIE"
Joel started working part time to assist with two-man jobs. We included product exchanges to our profile and evacuation and disposal of dehumidifiers, refrigerators & freezers. We then expanded our services to include in shop repairs, giving our customers the option of bringing appliances to our shop for repair. The decision to give our customers the option to bring their appliances to us can often expedite repairs and save the customer money.
2005 - RECOGNIZING OUR FULL POTENTIAL
Donna diligently keeps the files, paper work, and hustling business activity running smoothly. She works day by day next to her husband Dan and watches her family grow throughout each season and contently lives on their homestead.
OFFICE MANAGER
Stephanie wife of Peter-Dan, helps with the various tasks that are involved with running a home business. She brightens up the place with her fresh ideas. She efficiently juggles, homeschooling four children and homemaking. She enjoys thrift shopping, cooking, and gardening.

Jamie is our newest addition to our family business. She started working October 20201. We are so grateful for her. She's happy to help all our customers and brings a fresh new atmosphere to our office.

Our company is small enough to try to maintain a personal relationship with our customers and yet large enough to represent many brands and models competently.

We find ourslves in a fast-speed, cutting edge world that leaves little room for mistakes and second guessing. Because of that, we make every effort to keep ourselves up-to-date on technology changes and imporements by susbscribing to manufacturers service bulletins, diagnoistics and service literture. Based on this info, we are sometimes able to "pre-diagnose" a problem and come w/the parts in order to have a"one-trip" complete. With rare exceptions, we always use OEM parts in our repairs to maintain the quality of the unit to factory standards. We also try to keep a broad inventory of repair parts to keep wait time to a minimum. It is our desire to keep your service/repair experience to be the least disruption as we can and still meet the demands of our industry.

We are a family-based business that started in Philadelphia 4 generations ago. Since then the family has moved back to Northeast Pennsylvania where it started. Around 1979, the decision was made to narrow our focus to major household appliances. As the population and need of the areas grew, so did we. Anyone in the family with the interest, aptitude and ambition came on-board to meet the demand (whether clerical or techincian). Over the years, we have acquired service franchises with many manufacturers, which means we also represent them and meet their "Quality of Standards" criteria
